On 26th April 2015 Bennett Griffin’s own Ian Macara will be taking on the 2015 London Marathon in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Ian is a partner at Bennett Griffin and head of the Private Client team. Having joined Bennett Griffin as a trainee solicitor in 1994 Ian has worked his way up the ranks and now heads the largest team in the firm.

Joy after the Brighton Half Marathon As you can see Ian is no stranger to running, having run several marathons before including Brighton, Paris and the Three Forts. As is the case with most runners though Ian has always wanted to tackle London and is delighted to be running it for such a worthwhile charity as the Alzheimer’s Society.

Alzheimer’s Society is an organisation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

There are many different types of dementia and the term ‘dementia’ describes the symptoms that occur when the brain is affected by certain disease or conditions.

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. Staggeringly there are currently more than 520,000 people in the UK with Alzheimer’s disease.

Ian is also extremely supportive of Dementia Friends which is an initiative from the Alzheimer’s Society which aims to improve people’s understanding of dementia and its effects.

Ian is a Dementia Friend himself and Bennett Griffin is proud to support the Dementia Friends initiative.

Over the weeks leading up to the marathon Ian will be writing a blog charting the highs and lows of his training and giving and insight into his marathon preparation, as well as making the odd sponsorship request or two for this fantastic charity.

So keep an eye on our blog and follow us on social media to keep up to date with Ian’s progress, and if you are already inspired to donate please go to Ian’s Virgin Money page.
