We were delighted to be invited to attend the Royal Opening of Guild Care’s new dementia home, Haviland House in Worthing last Tuesday.

Haviland House opened to residents on 15 January 2015 and was officially opened by HRH Duchess of Gloucester on Tuesday 7 July. Ian Macara, partner at Bennett Griffin and head of our Private Client team was there for the opening and to enjoy the celebrations.

Haviland House is a residential care home which specialises in the care of people with dementia.

Together with the community facilities offered at Haviland House, which are called the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre, Guild Care are able to support people living with dementia in the local community, including their carers and families.

Guild Care’s dementia care services endeavour to evolve and adapt to each individual’s needs as they change over time and they are able to provide everything from initial outreach support, through to residential care.

The work undertaken by Guild Care is far reaching and vital in the local community.

Guild Care’s mission is to deliver innovative and life-changing care services which help older people, younger people with special needs, those with a dementia or a learning difficulty, and their carers, to share and enjoy a richer family and community life.

It is because of all the fantastic work they do that our staff have voted for Guild Care to be our Charity of the Year.

At Bennett Griffin we are passionate about the charity work we do, getting involved with national charities such as Children in Need and Comic Relief and local charities such as St Barnabas House.

St Barnabas is the firms charity and we have supported for many years, however in addition to supporting them , the staff at Bennett Griffin decided that they wanted to have a Charity of the Year which would be nominated by and voted on by the members of our staff each year.

In a democratic vote at our AGM in June, Guild Care came out on top as the charity that Bennett Griffin would like to support and raise money for over the course of the next year.

Exciting plans are being made to work closely with Guild Care over the next year so watch this space!
