Bennett Griffin go football crazy for Cancer Research UK

Reading Time: 2 minutes

On Friday 12th September, the staff and Partners at Bennett Griffin will be kitted out in football shirts to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

All our football madness has been inspired by former Southampton footballer, Francis Benali, who is running a whopping 1000 miles between the 20 premier league football stadiums in aid of Cancer Research UK. He started at Newcastle FC on 24th August 2014 and is aiming to reach the final stadium, St Mary’s in Southampton, on Saturday 13th September 2014.

You can find out more about Franny’s route and progress on his website – Benali’s Big Run .

Benali’s Big Run aims to raise £1,000,000 for Cancer Research UK, and everyone at Bennett Griffin would like to help towards that target. On his website, Franny explains why he is taking on this challenge “I have done a lot of charitable work for Cancer Research UK over a number of years but I have never raised a substantial amount of cash to really make a dent. Committing myself to such a large challenge which will test me to my limit, and probably beyond, both physically and mentally will hopefully inspire people to donate to the very worthy cause.”

Franny continues, “As a family we have been touched by this terrible disease, with my mum having to have a full hysterectomy after cancer cells were discovered, my wife lost both of her grandfather’s to cancer as well as so many friends whose families have been affected. It felt natural to want to help and I wanted to do that personally.”

Most of us have been affected by cancer at some point, and everyone at Bennett Griffin would like to wish Franny the best of luck with his run and his fundraising. Hopefully we can raise a bit of money on 12th September to help him on his way!
