Bennett Griffin sponsored Full of Life Festival

Bennett Griffin were proud to sponsor the innovative, fun and informative Full of Life Festival that took place at The Assembly Hall, Stoke Abbott Road, Worthing, on Thursday 15th September 2011.

The festival, which was targeted at the over 50s, drew in crowds throughout the day, with some visitors attending the event with their families. The festival and the exhibitors not only provided informative advice, but included a Tombola, raffle, cookery demonstrations, a personal shopper, a massage taster session and many other activities.

With many familiar faces, including the Mayor, in attendance, the festival proved to be a huge success.

Bennett Griffin were allocated a prominent pitch amongst the many other exhibitors, and settled in quickly to absorb the community spirit.

Bennett Griffin came armed with comprehensive legal literature, with an ambitious aim to assist as many attendees as possible within a limited time frame.

Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney proved to be the focal points for many visitors who attended the exhibition. It was surprising to establish just how many people had never made a Will, and how many others who needed to amend their Will as a result of having not reviewed it within the last 5 years or so.

A ‘proactive solicitor’ was often stated to be exactly what they needed to ensure that this important document is drafted and executed. It became quite clear that many had not made a Will simply due to a decision that they could not make regarding a particular matter. The general consensus was therefore to leave making a Will until a decision had been made. It was important for us to assure visitors that although we cannot make decisions on their behalf, we can of course assist them with what we understand and often encounter, to be very difficult decisions. Many visitors took this on board and realised the importance of writing a Will to include at least the basics.

Lasting Powers of Attorney were something that many visitors who visited the Bennett Griffin stand had not given any thought to. This document allows the individual to appoint a person of their choice to make financial or welfare decisions for them in the future, in the event that they could not, or no longer wanted to do so themselves.  Bennett Griffin took the details of a number of people who wisely felt that making a Lasting Power of Attorney was a sensible way forward.

David Elliott of BG Wealth also attended the exhibition to provide any assistance to attendees with particular queries regarding financial advice.
