Deadlines announced for assessments of eligibility of NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding
The Department of Health has announced deadlines for anyone who requests an assessment of their eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) for the period 1st April 2004 to 31st March 2012. Further information can be found on the Department of Health’s website.
NHS CHC is an important source of health and social care funded solely by the NHS for people who have health and medical needs that are severe or complex enough to require nursing care.
At Bennett Griffin, we have advised a number of clients who were not aware that they, or their relatives or friends, might have been eligible for this type of funding, which is not means-tested. There is a retrospective review process available for people in this situation, but the Department of Health is now trying to limit the timeframe in which such a review can be requested.
If you think you, or someone you know, might be eligible for NHS CHC funding, it is important to act quickly so as not to lose the opportunity to request a review, and the potential to obtain a refund of care fees that have been paid privately at any time during the period 1st April 2004 to 31st March 2012.
If you would like any further advice on the assessment or review process, please do contact our specialists at Bennett Griffin on 01903 706963.
