The Next Bennett Griffin Dementia Friends Session is on 24th January 2017
During 2016 Bennett Griffin helped over 50 people become Dementia Friends. In doing so, they have each become part of a more informed and more active community of Dementia Friends currently numbering 1,789,183.
The Dementia Friends initiative is helping to make communities across England more dementia-friendly, and in doing so creating communities where more people understand dementia and the people living with it are better supported.
It is estimated that;
• 250,000 people develop dementia every year – that’s 1 every 3 minutes
• 1 in 14 of those of us who are over 65 have dementia
• 1 in 4 of us is likely to be affected by dementia, whether directly or indirectly.
If you would like to learn more about dementia and help to create more dementia-friendly communities and businesses then please come along to our next Dementia Friends information session which is taking place on Tuesday 24th January 2017 at 12 noon.
The session will take place at our new Worthing office at 1 Liverpool Gardens, Worthing. Further contact details for the office can be found here. Unfortunately this office does not currently offer step free access.
The session is free and will last approximately one hour. The session will be run by the head of our Care and Capacity team Ian Macara and will give you the chance to learn more about the challenges of Dementia as well as the practical actions that Dementia Friends can take that could help someone affected by it living in their community.
At Bennett Griffin both Ian Macara and Elin Dukes are trained and accredited by the Alzheimer’s Society to facilitate Dementia Friends information sessions and most of our staff are trained Dementia Friends.
To book for the event, please head over to the page on the Dementia Friends Website and follow the online instructions.
We look forward to welcoming you on the 24th January.
