Peter Bennett wins The Lifetime Achievement Award…AGAIN!!

We are exceptionally proud to announce that Bennett Griffin’s senior Partner, Peter Bennett, won the Lifetime Achievement in Business Award at the Southern Business Awards on Friday 2nd September!!

This annual awards ceremony saw the very best of the South’s business men and women gather at The Grand Hotel in Brighton to celebrate the grand final of the regional business awards.  Some readers may remember that Peter won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Worthing Business Awards last year, which meant he was shortlisted in the same category with the winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award from local awards in Chichester, Crawley, Eastbourne, Hastings, Horsham, Petworth and Portsmouth.

The Lifetime Achievement in Business Award is presented to an individual that has “made a major contribution to their business and to the business reputation of their town over more years than they would probably care to remember.”  It was, therefore, a fitting tribute to a man who was devoted his career and indeed much of his spare time to actively promoting Worthing as the place in which to live and do business.

Although Peter has played a pivotal role in steering Bennett Griffin to continued success over a 20 year period, he has never allowed work commitments to impact on his wider contribution to our local town.  Peter was a Councillor on the Worthing Borough Council for 24 years, Mayor of Worthing between 1993 and 1994, a Director of Worthing Homes, Chair of the Connaught Theatre Trust and the President of the Worthing Law Society.  He is now President of the Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce, and a Director of the Worthing Town Centre Initiative, the Worthing and Adur Economic Development Partnership and Worthing First.  Peter is also a trustee of the Worthing High School Trust, and the Chairman of local charity, International Animal Rescue.

Peter was presented with the Award by television celebrity Fred Dinenage and Councillor Vicky Vaughan of The Brand Surgery, who sponsored the category.  Commenting on his Award, Peter said “It is business people who make a difference to jobs, prosperity, ambitions and aspirations for the whole community.  I am very proud of this recognition but it would not have been given to me without the teamwork, support and encouragement of many others.  I would particularly like to thank my Partners and all at Bennett Griffin for their skills and expertise used daily to assist the business community, the hardworking Executive of the Worthing and Adur Chamber, the indefatigable Tina Tilley, the Adur and Worthing Economic Partnership, and the networking groups from BNI to the Best of Worthing, which make up the rich interaction of commercial operations in our area, and which contribute so much to the regional economy.”

We are thrilled that Peter has received such prestigious recognition for a lifetime dedicated to our business and our town, and we look forward to celebrating all his achievements with him.

Well done Peter!
