Spotlight on Jackie Gifford – Mediator

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Jackie Gifford qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 1989 and has recently celebrated her 25th work anniversary at Bennett-Griffin LLP.

Jackie is a family law specialist and deals with all aspects of family breakdown including separation; divorce; dissolution; children issues; finance and property; implementation; enforcement; domestic violence; cohabitation; pre and post nuptials. Jackie is a member of Resolution first for family law, an organisation of over 5000 independent lawyers committed to adopting a constructive approach in all family matters, encouraging solutions rather than conflict. Having long been an advocate of Mediation, Jackie qualified as an all issues Mediator with Resolution in 2004. Her understanding of the law and experience is invaluable in the mediation process.

Mediation is an alternative form of dispute resolution (ADR). ADR has grown in popularity and there is widespread acceptance among the public and legal profession of the benefits it can offer. Parties involved in family breakdown are often keen to achieve resolution of their differences in a fair way with greater control over the outcome, in preference to the traditional often timely and expensive, route of litigation through the Court process. Indeed, following the Family Law Reforms, it is now a requirement for parties to attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAMS) before launching into Court proceedings.
