The Retirement Gym – Legal Matters In Later Life

Of the adult population, 2/3rds do not have a Will and only 8% have a registered Lasting Power of Attorney. This can cause potential issues for family members when it comes to organising the affairs of the individuals, when this can be sorted out in advance and avoid such problems.
Ian Macara, our Senior Partner, specialises in contingency planning for life, and in particular, responding to health crises and the often dramatic impact that can have on the individual and their family and their business interests. It is with this knowledge that he was recently invited to take part in The Retirement Gym.
The Retirement Gym is a monthly podcast with the aim to help you make good decisions whilst your planning for retirement and will explore how you can spend your time and money when you’re in retirement. Hosted by Roy Thompson, Partner and Head of Wealth Management at MHA Carpenter Box, each episode is joined by a guest who is an expert in their field and they will cover a range of retirement topics from budgeting to Wills.
In the 2nd episode of the Show, Ian joins Roy to discuss the importance of making a Will and Powers of Attorney and the potential consequences for those who do not have these in place.
