Carers Rights Day 2022

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Carers Rights Day takes place on Thursday 24 November. This annual campaign brings organisations together to help unpaid carers know their rights and find out how to get the help and support that they are entitled to.

This year’s theme is ‘Caring Costs’, and earlier this month, Carers UK published their annual ‘State of Caring’ report, which provides a snapshot of carer’s experiences in 2022.

The report estimates that there are currently around 10.6 million carers in the UK, which would mean that 1 in 5 adults living in the UK is providing care to a loved one, the majority of them unpaid.

Unsurprisingly, given the current cost-of-living crisis, carers have reported unprecedented pressures on their finances, as well as concerns about the delays in accessing healthcare services for both themselves and the person they care for.

To raise awareness of carers rights, and the support available to carers, there will be events taking place across the UK on the 24 November. Bennett Griffin will be supporting the campaign by attending the Carer Drop In event at Worthing Town Hall, which local charity Carers Support West Sussex has organised.

The event is free to attend, and we will be there from 1pm to answer your legal queries about paying for care, making Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and the Court of Protection.
