Making A Donation To Make A Will Month

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Our work with the local community is massively important to all of us at Bennett Griffin, none more so than the work of St Barnabas House & Chestnut Tree House, two local charities that are close to our collective heart.
St Banabas House in Worthing provides palliative care services for patients with cancer and other life-limiting conditions. Chestnut Tree House provides hospice care services and community support for children and young people with progressive life-shortening conditions.

Every October, both charities run Make A Will Month, a scheme that encourages local solicitors to support both charities by writing or amending single or mirror Wills, in exchange for making a donation to one of the charities. Last year, we were delighted to be able to take part in the appeal and were were able to raise a wonderful £430.00 for St Barnabas House and £160.00 for Chestnut Tree House, making a total donation of £590!

Overall, the 2020 Make a Will Month raised £3,800.00 for St Barnabas and for £1,500.00 for Chestnut Tree House.  They were also made aware of 10 individuals that have left a gift in their will to either St Barnabas or Chestnut Tree House. For charities like these that rely solely on the generosity of others in order to operate, this is incredibly heart-warming.

Whilst our donation to the charities may be small compared to the annual running costs of both Chestnut Tree House & St Barnabas House, we are honoured to help out and we will continue our long relationship with both charities to donate our time. Charities like this give so much back, this is the least we, or anyone can do.

There are many ways to get involved with fundraising for either charity – head to the Chestnut Tree House & St Barnabas House websites to find out more.
