Teeing Off In The ‘Big Golf Race’ To Support Prostate Cancer Research

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We are proud to announce that two of our esteemed employees, Josh Coleman and Hamit Akyol, will take on the ‘Big Golf Race’ to raise vital funds for prostate cancer research.

The national charitable initiative supports Prostate Cancer UK and aims to provide much-needed support to men suffering from this prevalent disease.

For Bennett Griffin, the challenge will also allow the team to help support their retired colleague, Jeremy Wootton, who is currently undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.

On Wednesday, 26th July, Josh and Hamit will tee off at the prestigious Slinfold Golf and Country Club.

The funds raised from this event will be dedicated to advancing life-saving research, specifically focusing on developing improved diagnostic tests to detect prostate cancer at its earliest stages.

Josh Coleman, an associate solicitor at Bennett Griffin, expressed his enthusiasm for this remarkable endeavour, stating, “We are privileged to be a part of the ‘Big Golf Race’ and contribute to the fight against prostate cancer.

“Slinfold Golf and Country Club has been fantastic with letting us take on the marathon challenge at their wonderful course.

“By taking part and raising as much money as possible, we hope to bring us one step closer to better diagnostic tools and improved outcomes for men everywhere.”

The Big Golf Race is the equivalent of four rounds of golf (72 holes) and will see the pair walking around 26 miles throughout the day.

They are aiming to start at roughly 5.30am to be done before they lose the light at 8/9pm.

Hamit Akyol, a trainee solicitor at Bennett Griffin, also shared his thoughts, saying:

“Prostate cancer has touched the life of our former colleague, Jeremy Wootton, and it has reminded us of the importance of early detection and effective treatments.

“By participating in the ‘Big Golf Race,’ we aim to raise both funds and awareness for this cause.”
